Haringey Transport Update January 2022

4th January 2022L Santi

Dear Parents/ Carers

With the increased rise of Omicron Variant and consequent staffing absences we are working hard to make transport arrangements for your child/ young person.

Please be aware that over the next few weeks the following issues may arise

  • Your child may have a different driver or escort than the one they are used to
  • You may be advised of delays if routes need to be split or amended to ensure continuity of travel arrangements.

The safe transportation of your child between home and school remains out utmost priority and wherever there are changes we will endeavour to inform you as swiftly as possible after we have received notifications.

Under some circumstances we may have to cancel or rearrange existing arrangements, and this would always be a last resort, which we would discuss with you.

We will continue with our Covid Safety processes which include use of masks on transport where appropriate, drivers and escorts taking Lateral flow tests regularly and use of ventilation on transport.

During this uncertain time, you may wish to manage your child’s transport to school via a personal transport budget (where we offer financial assistance to transport your own child) if this is the case then please contact the transport team on 020 8489 2729 or [email protected]

 With best wishes

Mary Jarrett (Head of SEND Services)

Face coverings Reintroduced following Government Guidance (29th November 2021)

29th November 2021L Santi

Following the government guidance regarding the new Omicron Variant, we will be re-introducing face coverings for pupils in year 7 and above. The expectation is for those pupils who are able to wear a face covering or can tolerate wearing a face covering follow the guidance and do so. This will only be in communal areas and it is also advised they wear face coverings on transport.

We will be reducing visitors on site and asking all visitors who enter the building to wear a face covering.

In the meantime, please can you continue to ensure you are regularly testing your child at home using the lateral flow device tests.  If you require more, please do not hesitate to contact us at school.

Consultation

23rd July 2021Hill

Dear Parents, Carers and Stakeholders,

We are writing to inform you that it is our intention to increase the planned admissions number at the Grove from 104 to 125 due to the increasing demand within Haringey for places for children and young people with a diagnosis of autism. Our rationale for increasing the planned admissions number from 104 to 125 is to build on the success of The Grove and to:

  • Meet the local deficit in places for a broad range of children on the autistic spectrum.
  • Respond to the demand and support from local parents, the local authority and local schools.
  • Extend 6th form provision and build on the success of The Grove

We are genuinely interested in hearing your views and would, therefore, like to open a consultation with all stakeholders and the community. The consultation runs for four weeks from Friday 23rd July to Monday 23rd August 2021. Please make sure we receive your comments and completed questionnaires by 9am on Monday 23rd August 2021. You can respond to the consultation by completing this paper questionnaire and returning it using the freepost address provided.

Alternatively you can complete this online questionnaire.

7pm Monday 9th August:

Testing News for September 2021

21st July 2021L Santi

You will have received a letter about arrangements for the return to school in September.

10th March – Careers fair 2.30-5.30.  career fair flyer

Returning to School in September 2021

Updated government guidance for schools on reopening in September was issued last week and can be accessed via this hyperlink OR  at https://educationhub.blog.gov.uk/2021/07/06/parents-pupils-teachers-and-students-find-out-what-step-4-of-the-covid-roadmap-means-for-you/

Government guidance states that all SECONDARY pupils (year 7 and above) will need 2 Lateral Flow Device (LFD) tests for their return to school in September. This is because we know the numbers of cases are rising rapidly for the 11-19 age group. By ensuring we have tested all secondary aged pupils we can identify any positive cases before the start of term and so help to prevent the possibility of Covid cases in school.

Onsite Testing 2nd and 6th September

We will be opening the school for parents and carers to bring their secondary and post 16 children into school for testing (this will be year groups 7,8,9,10,11,12,13 & 14).

Parents and carers should bring their child to the school to get their tests done on Thursday 2nd September and 4 days later on Monday 6th September. See the table below for details and times.

If you are traveling by car, please come through to the car park. Those arriving by foot will come through the main entrance.

Testing will only take a few minutes and parents and carers should accompany their children. The test will be done on site and we will contact any parents of children who have tested positive. You will be encouraged to attend on both days as this will really support the school to open to all pupils safely on Tuesday 7th September.

If you are worried about testing your child we will be here to help and oversee the process. In extreme cases where your child cannot tolerate a tonsil swab, a nasal swab will suffice.

If you choose to test your child at home on Thursday 2nd and Monday 6th, we would kindly ask that you report the results to the NHS and share the results with the school.

Return Dates for September 2021

Primary pupils will return on Monday 6th September as they are NOT required to take a LFD test.

Secondary pupils who have received 2 negative lateral flow tests will return on Tuesday 7th September.
